10/14/19
OK, this is the fouth week. By now you have, hopefully, settled into a good routine for the class.
After grading assignment 3, my thoughts on it are
- Most of the assignments were well done.
- 46 assignments were turned in and accepted on time. 4 were not.
- The average assignment grade was 18 points. Most errors were pretty minor.
- There
is already some evidence of copying of the assignments. It is way
to early for any copying to occur. Assignment 3 should have been
quite easy. If you are copying already, what is going to happen
when we get to the real assignments?
- If
you didn't do well on the assignment, you should review your errors and
understand exactly what the problem is and how to do it right. If
unsure, check with Joe. Remember, he is available before class
(he arrives by 7:30), and after class. Sometimes things can be
explained via email, too. If you don't understand your errors,
you will continue to make them and you will lose points on evey
assignment for the same mistake.
- I
noticed that the trend in assignment grades diminished with those
turned in later. Most that were turned in on Friday, Saturday,
and early Sunday were pretty good. Most of those that came in
late Sunday and early Monday were not so good. What does this
mean? For those of you who are not "nailing" the assignment
- you should really be thinking about starting earlier. Maybe
now. And since the assignments will get longer, you will need
more time. Sunday night might not work to start the assignment.
We are
starting to get into logic. The assignments will get harder and
longer. Make sure you understand the initial examples in chapter
4. The logic will start easy, but get harder.
Is the honeymoon over?
