Server accounts at school

Setup your account on the OS/2 server   puma

You can use the PC machines in the classroom. They can connect to the same lab servers as in the main lab room, AT203. You can also use the CIS Lab in room AT203. The CIS Lab is not functional on Monday of the first week.

Do NOT attempt to set up your accounts before Tuesday of the first week.
If you add the course, wait until ONE days after you add the class before setting up your puma account.

You can set up your puma account in the CIS lab at school using the instructions on the blue sheet. Obtain the blue sheet from the instructor, or from the rack next to the CIS desk in AT203.

After you set up your account, try logging in to your new account.

Setup your account on the Linux server   voyager

After you have set up your puma account, you can set up your voyager account.

If you add the course, wait until TWO days after you add the class before setting up your voyager account.

You can set up your voyager account in the CIS lab at school using the link to the left, and selecting Voyager: Instructions for the CIS Lab
Be careful to write your password with upper case and lower case exactly. Watch out for the difference between l1 O0.
If your username and password disappear before you get them written down, do the process to get an account again.

STOP
Wait 15 minutes for the system to get your account set up, then try logging in to your new account.
( Sometimes it takes a little longer. )

Working from home

You cannot use your puma account from home. If you wish to use files from your puma account, carry them home in a USB drive.

After you have set up your voyager account, you can use your voyager account from home.

Windows users you can use your voyager account in the CIS lab at school using the link to the left, and selecting Voyager: Instructions for Home You do NOT need to set up the account again, just use it. You do need to set up putty.

Mac users In the following, replace yourUserID with the userId you created on voyager.
Under Utilities select Terminal.
At the prompt enter: ssh yourUserID@voyager.deanza.edu
The system then asks for the password. Type your own password. The password does NOT show up on the screen while you type it.
Logout when you are finished by typing exit and Enter.
