Select one of the topics from Chapter 1 in the text, or choose a similar topic. Discuss how informtion is used for this activity.
Research the topic on the Internet. Provide at least three Internet links in your report. From the material in the book, material you found on the Internet, and any material you may have found in other sources, discuss how informtion is used for this activity.
Also discuss how this use of informtion affects humans.

In class, we will organize into groups. Each group will select a name for the group. Turn in the name of the group, with a list of the full name of all members in the group. The members of the group may wish to exchange e-mail addresses.
The group will select one group project from the end of any chapter in
the text book, or you may create a project that is similar to
the projects in the book.
Submit the name of the group and the project selected, either with the
list of members, or later the same week as the group is formed.
It would be good to organize the activity, so each student in the group has a specific assignment of what they will contribute.

The group will be called on to discuss their material sitting in a group at the front of the room. It would be good if you were organized as to how you will present the material. Turn in a printed copy of each individual report and the group report before starting the presentation.
After each member of the group presents their material, the group will discuss it. Be sure to discuss the good and bad aspects of the topic.
After presenting material, call on the rest of the class to ask questions or make comments. It would be good if you accepted questions and comments after each section of the presentation.
Be sure to discuss the human and machine aspects of the topic.
Work in the same teams as in assignment 3. This is a group activity. NO individual reports will be accepted.
Select a topic for debate. The topic should have a subject related to the objectives of this course. There should be a single statement, defining the two sides of the debate. Select a topic that has two clearly defined sides. Each student must be prepared to discuss the question from both sides; you will not know in advance which side you must support. Each student will turn in a one page report giving important arguments for and against the question, and also rebuttal comments for each argument. Each group will select a different topic.
Some possible topics might be:
This report will be on your planned career. If you do not yet have a specific career goal, select one career goal you are interested in.
State your career goal. Briefly describe what initial job in your career path you are striving for. Discuss how information technology is used in that job.
