Server accounts at school

Accounts and servers

You can use the PC machines in the classroom and in the CIS lab in the CIS classrooms. They all connect to the same servers.

Do NOT attempt to set up your accounts before the quarter starts. Accounts set up too soon may have problems.
If you add the course, wait a few minutes; it will take less than an hour for the system to be ready for you to set up your account.

There are two servers:
puma, the windows server
voyager, the linux server

The set-up process will give you a pair of accounts, one on each of these servers.

You only need one pair of accounts. If you are taking two CIS courses, you only need to set up your accounts once.

Setup your accounts

In a CIS classroom or the CIS lab, you can set up your accounts at the beginning of the term (not later).
Use alt-ctrl-delete to access the login screen
Type:   hello   as the user name, and do not type anything for the password.
Use a web browser and access web page: http://www.deanza.edu/cis/
Scroll down if necessary and select the maroon button:   Create Your Business/CS Computer Lab Account IMPORTANT: Do NOT use your student ID for your CIS account ID or password. Keep your student ID private - the CIS IDs are public.
It will ask you for your information and will set up your accounts.

You get two accounts; one on puma and one on voyager. Both of your accounts have the same ID and the same password.

Be sure to remember your account ID and password.

After you set up your account, wait a couple of minites and try logging in to your new account.

Setup your accounts from home

You only need to set up your accounts once. You no NOT need to set them up at school and from home.
