Uncompressing Files and Folders
To uncompress a file or folder, you must extract it from the compression folder. The uncompressed file or folder is identical to the original version, before it was compressed.
- Open the folder that contains the compressed folder you want to decompress.
- Right-click the compressed folder. Choose Extract All from the menu that appears.
- The Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders window appears. To extract the files to a location other than the default, press the Browse button.
- The Select a destination dialog box opens. Locate and select the folder to which you want to extract the compressed files.
- Press OK to close the Select a Destination dialog box.
- Press Extract. Windows 7 extracts the files and folders into the folder you specified.
