  • External disks are used to connect removable portable disk storage. Typical external disk interface types include USB, eSATA, SCSI, and FireWire (IEEE 1394).
  • It is best practice to avoid using external disks as a location for operating system files.
  • Windows 7 should not be installed on removable disk media, and it will identify the disk as unsuitable during installation if it recognizes the media as removable.
